      It is blue, or at least the species of bird has a blue front. Why they chose to call it a purple swamphen is one of life's little mysteries, and one that you will have to take up with whoever named it.

      I am a big fan of the egret system. Greater egrets are big. Intermediate egrets aren't as big as greater egrets, but are a bit bigger than little egrets. Cattle egrets hang around cattle. Simple, logical and easy to understand.
