Vulcan bomber, Southport

Took some snaps at the Southport air show recently. We missed out on the Euro fighter this year due to them all being busy, but the old classics still made an appearance.

Very noisy and intimidating, the Vulcan bomber, who carried nuclear weapons with names like Blue Danube gravity bomb, Yellow Sun, Green grass and Violet Club.

The fleet of Vulcan bombers were flown by the RAF between 1953 and 1984, part of the UK's nuclear strike force, also capable of delivering conventional weaponry, taking part in the Falklands conflict in 1982.

Here the last flying Vulcan catches the light while soaring above Southport.

Thanks for viewing.
