    Newer Older

The Nikon is slightly smaller, but is quite a bit lighter.

OK, got a question for you.

I used to have the 350D. Great camera.

I moved over to the Nikon camp, sold the Rebel and bought a D80.

      It's awesome.

      I want another camera, smaller.

How do you like the D40?

Does the image quality compare to the 350D?

From what I've seen, the D40 is a sweet little camera.

      Whaddya think?

So far I love the D40, the 350d pictured here belongs to my brother so I've never really used it heavily. I've seen great results from the 350d though so I'm sure it is also a great package.

However the D40 is far more up to date, and I believe the image quality is the same as the D50 and D70, both of which are well proven cameras.

I'd say that the D40 is much better than the Canon in auto mode, which you may be interested in if your using it as a secondary camera. Looking at the Christmas photos taken on the D40 and 350d the D40 got the lighting right every time, the shots are much nicer than those off the 350d...

The D40 will only autofocus with newer Nikkor AFS lenses though, which may bother you if you already have a collection of glass.

Personally I'd go for the D40, well I did. If the autofocus lens thing bothers you get a deal on the D50 as I believe they're heavily reduced now.

From what I´ve seen on Flickr the results on the 350d are much warmer and smoother than the ones on the d40, am I right?

As far as i've notice,, picture taken cameras are little bit stronger in contrast, while canon have a balance and vivid colors, but any one of this cameras shot you can adjust the color of your shot in a short tweak,
