Barra Head Lighthouse, Outer Hebrides
The lighthouse at Barra Head is the highest in the UK above sea level at 208 metres. It was designed by Robert Stevenson and first lit in 1833.
As far south as you can go in the Outer Hebrides, best viewed large to appreciate the scale of the cliffs!
In the days when it was manned, the keepers reported finding fish at the top of the cliffs, such is the power of the sea here!
