Celebration | by Ian Lewis Photography

Can't believe I have been a Flickr member for over three years! Time has flown by. Here is my 1,000th contribution to Flickr! I guess I could have got to this point sooner but I have been more selective about what I upload since my early Flickr days. Why? Well I like to think my photography has improved, and whilst I still share what I enjoy rather that what I think others will enjoy, I like to think my photography has improved and my photostream in the process.

It has been a great experience. I have learnt so much from looking at photos on Flickr and those forthcoming to share their knowledge. I have also made some great friends along the way that share the same passion.

So this contribution is a celebration of my 1,000th upload but the title also refers to the photo itself. A quick dash down to Porthtowan for sunset looked doubtful on my arrival. There was a blanket of cloud that I lost the sun to pretty much on my arrival, but the photography Gods were looking favourably on me. A small gap between the cloud and the horizon gave a few minutes of magic as the sun burst through. There was another photographer who disappeared as the sun dropped behind the cloud. I'm so glad I showed some patience! I hope he didn't leave completely and caught it too. I can imagine how gutted he would feel if he had.

A big thank-you for all those that have taken the time to look and comment on my photos.

Here is to the next 1,000...
