[from my great great grandfather to Jim Churchill]
October 9, 1859
Your letter was duly received and I beg your pardon for neglecting to answer it immediately. The money was duly appropriated and the suggestion "enormous" was laid away in the store-house of general information properly parcelled and labelled, ready for future use.
The parcel to Mrs West was duly appreciated by her, being better skilled in women's gear them myself and for it she returns her thanks.
Accept our best wishes for yourself and family. Mr Beaman has bought the Wachusett House and will probably appear as its landlord next year.
I am respectfully
[note, this is the Wachusett House that he is referring to, and it was owned by P. A. Beaman & Sons for many years after this, they apparently bought it from the original builders]
