nypl blocks me!

I could get nitpicky with how they worded this, but I surfed the internet for an hour and a bit and I only came across one blocked site. I have the sneaking suspicion this site may be really gross anyhow, but I know it's NOT porn.

Can you ask to have the filter removed?

Our library also uses Websense and blocks the Adult Content category. I bypassed the filter to check the site and there are no visual depictions of obscenity, child pornography and, unless amputees are harmful to minors, I think this is wrongly categorized. I'm going to ask for it to be reconsidered.

Ah, I thought from the title they'd blocked librarian.net

It's just that one piercing/tattoo site that shows up on mefi every so often. Probably shouldn't be blocked.

bmezine does have a lot of photos of genitals, although that specific page doesn't.

BMEzine has some sketchy stuff -- and with links to BMEHard (or wahtever their sketch site is) abundant, I feel fine with that site being blocked.

BMEZine is like a gateway drug to pictures of mutilated organs if your not careful.

It was rather odd to have clicked through to this and the page it blocked while simultaneously browsing BME.

The wifi we have in our library is unfiltered (like our net) but you have to be a member to access. We're still working on a visitor pass system for it though, as you do need to log in with username/password unique to you.
