This set contains images from Barrow Gurney Mental Hospital and Radnor Asylum

Opened in 1939, this Bristol asylum catered for soldiers of the world war requiring psychiatric treatment and many patients after until it closed in 2006 after being condemned as the filthiest hospital in the country.

Opened in 1903 and a showcase for the compat arrow design Radnor Asylum was a joint effort between several local counties. It included a special wing for epileptics who at the time were considered mental. It closed down in 1990 and stands partly demolished.
