I have spotted this Red-Tailed hawk on a tree branch, concentrated on its prey moving in the grass at the edge of an irigation canal. Hawks usually fly away when they spot someone from far away. This time the prey seemed to have mesmerized the hawk, which gave me time to close in and hide behind the next tree’s trunk when he decided to strike, disapearing in the tall and dense grass. I’ve decided to lay low and wait for movement. He finally showed up with whatever was left of a a vole or mole.
