Bay Theater, Caseville

In all of my travels, this is probably one of the ugliest theaters I've ever encountered. Still, it plays first-run movies in a tiny town, so that's good.

you should find the M-89 in Otsego Miit was a old super market. It is ugly too!

We used to go there all the time. Is it still there?

Yes, and it's still running strong, it seems. I was there for about a minute taking pictures, and there were lots of people coming and going. What's the theater like inside? Has the building always been a theater? This one's a mystery to me.

It's very small. The lobby is tiny, but they sell popcorn & candy just like the big theaters. It was there at least 30 years ago according to one "senior" family member. ;-)

It's great that they have a theater up there -- ugly or not (I actually just encountered a theater that is uglier than this, so the Bay's off the hook for now :D ) -- much of the towns in the Thumb don't have a theater. Do you know when was this built? There isn't a lot of info about the Bay Theater on the internet.

The bay theater has been a movie theater for as long as I can remember, for at least 50 years. It shows first run movies and is doing well. Sorry that you think it's so ugly. You must be used to the prissy city movie houses. Don't be such a judgmental pratt!

So sorry to tell you this, but I'm not used to any kind of movie houses, seeing as I've visited every single one in the state of Michigan, and plenty outside the state, as well. I have seen my share of both spectacular and plain theaters and in the end, I feel I'm more than entitled to share my opinion on the matter. Please act like an adult and take your insults elsewhere.

Jorie, I agree with you in that no one should be so insulting. I will say thought taht you really can't judge a theatre by its exterior. The experienec lies within, management, condition internally, ambiance, cleanliness and presentation of the motion picture. When you look back in the years when there was a theatre in every neighborhood there were a large numbe of them that were down right ugly but their presentation of the entertainment within was great.
