The Ancient Theatre of Thassos Town

What you will first notice about the theater is the panoramic view of the sea that is offered. Built in the 3rd Century B.C. the theater could easily accommodate 2000-3000 spectators. It was altered by the Romans in the 1st Century A.D and was used for gladiatorial contests. The theatre continues to be used today for musical performances as well as those of ancient tragedies in the summer.
