Distractions: Pursuits of the Juvenile Mind
Distractions: Pursuits of the Juvenile Mind is an exhibition created by the Hyde Park Art Center’s Youth Art Board (YAB). In this exhibition, YAB explores the many and varied distractions faced by today’s youth—including social media, girls, even texting. Works in the show were created by the YAB and other talented youth artists from the neighborhood. Artists in the show were chosen from an open call to five Chicago public high school students. Over 45 original artworks were received. Works in the exhibition were selected by the YAB, with the assistance of teaching artist Anthony Rea and program director Ray Yang, based on their relation to themes currently being explored during YAB weekly meetings.
