Back in the day, in 03, us web designers talked the IC-Style, Schiphol School, and more. It was a movement towards html minimalism, simplicity -- the opposite of Flash-based site and a few years before Web 2.0 with its big fonts, apps that end in "r" and AJAX whizbang.
I prefer it now as I did then: "Call it minimalist or reductionist, for us, it’s a response to the drum-solo design of the late 90s and back then we coded many drum solos."
When I travel, I judge an airport on how well it wayfinds -- how I can find my way around looking at signage that Schiphol set a standard. We did find our way around well, but got confused by passport control in/out and I suspect that's because of new requirements after 9/11.
