Rolling Jackass Center Stand

    Newer Older

Works just like a motorcycle center stand, pull a lever, lift your cargo bike back and up onto it. This photo is of another Big Dummy setup.

See related photo(s) with the Center Stand on the Bettie, including Clip-n-Seal mod.

$375, though, ouch. I wonder if any of the cheaper old style are still available?

Lots of labor goes into it; considering what it does, and the effort, it doesn't seem unreasonable. We've got it on-test now with Bettie with a Clip-n-Seal modification. The stands are also handmade, so sure, with mass-production they'll come down. Eleventy-billion times better than a kick-stand.

Did Colin make that, or did Val?

Rolling Jackass is Val's company. Handmade by Val.

Good for Val. Do you know, by chance, which shop he did the work in?

I don't. Over the weekend, we bike blended for 5 hours and the stand worked well. Notice the right, front of the stand and the cable. That connects to a lever that releases the spring and is used when stopping on the bike. To park it without getting off.

I'm quite familiar with the design: some of the early prototypes were built in a shop I helped found, and at one point I completely mocked up the design in SolidWorks.

Updated through a series of prototypes, the stand is now working with Bettie 2.0.
