VAN GOGH'S ROOM IN THE BUND AREA OF YOKOHAMA

VAN GOGH'S APARTMENT IN YOKOHAMA

The bund was the one area where there were western-style buildings. Nagasaki and a few other port cities had areas where western merchants had settled, thus their architecture was prevalent. Theo had thought much about his brother's journey. Vincent's luggage was light; it was Theo who had added to its weight with last thoughts about items Vincent might need in his soujourn. While Theo arranged for the voyage, Vincent continued painting familiar sights., He would have time enough to paint the roofs and geishas of Japan. How long would he stay? Vincent knew how long he would stay.

Vincent Willem van Gogh was born on 30th March 1853 and died on 29th July 1890
