Although I generally find BW the better format for mountain photos I could not resist this ice cold blue. Because it was really cold up there when I captured this view. I would guess around -20°C / -4°F.
What you see is of course Matterhorn (4478m / 14691ft). It must be most photographed mountain in the Alps - maybe in the entire world. But, when you are there it is almost impossible to make a photo without including the peak. It has an enourmous presence and an unprecedented beauty. In the back right part of this scenery you will find Dent Blanche (4356m / 14291 ft).
It seemed an almost impossible task to find a new take on this mountain. However, I was blended by the beauty of the view and amazed by that strange cloud formation appearing over the peak.
The original photo was captured on slide film and later scanned it with the Nikon Super Colorscan 5000 ED with small changes in Photoshop. I cropped it to 16:9 and I also created a square crop of the mountain only converted to BW. I might post that some other time.
