Commencement 2013
Humboldt State University celebrated 2,200 new graduates at the 2013 Commencement Ceremonies. This year's Centennial Class kicks off of a yearlong celebration marking Humboldt State's 100th year.

The day featured many highlights, including honoring the three Outstanding Students of the Year. They are Geography major Emanuel Delgado, Political Science major Gabriela García and Masha E. Melnik, who is earning a double major in Psychology and Biology.

Many students took the opportunity to sign the Graduation Pledge—a commitment signed by students who pledge to uphold the values of environmental sustainability and social justice in whatever careers they choose to enter. The pledge, which began at HSU in 1987, has since been adopted by thousands students worldwide.

Finally, this year continued HSU's efforts to "green up graduation." Students manned several hydration stations and worked to reduce the number of water bottles and single-use coffee cups used during the events.
