What it was like to be in the center of a monsoon!
My wife and I were on our way to Phoenix Tuesday night, just before a gigantic monsoon hit! Some say it was the worst they had ever seen! Most of the shots you will find on the internet were from the outside edge of the monsoon with a large dust cloud bearing down on Skyharbor airport. However, 50 miles west we were in the center of the storm. I pulled out my Nikon D3s and decided to try and document the incredible light show going on outside. This shot was taken with the camera on my knee, traveling down the road at 65 mph. The lightning flash helped freeze the action. The light streak you see going across the rear view mirror was from the headlights of oncoming traffic reflecting off of the glass of the side window.
