1942 trip that began in Kentucky (Hazard)

Hazard, Kentucky . . .

Can anyone ID the car?

This was the first stop on a trip from Hazard, Ky to Dawson, WVa, in the summer of 1942. The war had started but gas rationing had not. My father borrowed the car from his boss to go see his ageing parents for what he thought might be the last time. They fooled him by living a long time after that. Grandpa was still going on hikes at 90 and made it to 97. Grandma died at 88.

The trip was made on old crowned blacktop two-lanes through mountains all the way. I think this picture was made near Pikeville. We observed the war-time speed limit of 35 mph.

Left to right; me at age 8, sister Bunny at 3, Daddy at 33, and sister Maxine at 11. Mama took the picture.
