Earth Day 2010 (4)
The week of April 19, 2010, HON members were busy celebrating the 40th anniversary of Earth Day.
On Friday, April 23rd HON members participated in the City of Muscatine’s Earth Day celebration. The event, titled “Preserving the Pearl of the Mississippi”, was held at the Muscatine Art Center. Through the creative use of ping-pong balls and Velcro® they were able to demonstrate how our paint reclamation process reduces waste by continuously collecting unused powdercoat paint particles and looping them back into an electrostatic spray gun. They also had one of our “naked chairs” on hand to exemplify how our compression molding process, or Comold, diverts nearly 10,000 tons of wood waste from landfills and saves over 5000 acres of virgin forest each year. Oh yeah – they had treats for the kids too. Good stuff!
