Printing Shop. Wing Lee Street 永利街
The beautiful Wing Lee Street with its row of tong laus is the backdrop for the award-winning movie, "Echoes of the Rainbow".
Tong laus have traditionally been shop houses with the commercial premises on the ground floor and living accommodation above . Many have traditional Canton floor tiles and unique decorative features.
The tenement building design was developed from the late 19th Century to the 1960s and is unique to Hong Kong and southern China encompassing a mix of Chinese and European architectural features.
Although Wing Lee Street is famous due to the movie's award, the urban renewal authority for now has no plan to change its development project, they are facing demolition and rebuilding threats.
