黑啄木 Black Woodpecker (クマゲラ)-雄鳥

Family : Picidae (啄木鳥科). Length: 約45–50 cm.
黑啄木鳥體型非常大，身長45 -47 cm，翼展64 -68 cm，體重300 -350 g，壽命11 年。是啄木鳥中最大的一種。通體幾純黑色；雄鳥額、頭頂和枕全為血紅色；雌鳥僅後頭有血紅色。
雄性成鳥額、頭頂、枕血紅色；頦、喉煙灰色；上、下體其餘部分全為深黑色。
雌性成鳥只枕部為血紅色，身體其餘部分全為深黑色。虹膜淡黃色或灰白色；嘴淡綠白色，尖端黑褐色；跗蹠暗褐灰色。虹膜－近白；嘴－象牙色，端暗；腳－灰色。嘴楔狀；鼻孔被羽；4趾。第1片初級飛羽很小，不及第2片的1/2。
棲息於歐亞大陸溫帶的針葉林和山毛櫸林，喜歡大片的針葉或落葉林，其中包括所有森林種類（櫸木，杉木，落葉松，松樹）。在青藏高原東部亞高山針葉林為留鳥。在北方活動於低地至南方達海拔2400米。飛行不平穩但不如其他啄木鳥起伏大。
分佈於歐洲的斯堪的納維亞半島、波蘭及西班牙向東經波羅的海、前蘇聯、蒙古、朝鮮至日本。
The Black Woodpecker (Dryocopus martius) is a large woodpecker, 45–50 cm long with a 64–68 cm wingspan. Body weight is approximately 300-400 grams on average. It is easily the largest woodpecker in its range. This species is closely related to and fills the same ecological niche in Europe as the Pileated Woodpecker of North America. It lives in mature forest across the northern palearctic. It is the sole representative of its genus in that region. Its range is expanding in Eurasia. It does not migrate.
