Comet Lulin, February 21,2009 14:35-16:07UTC
I enjoyed fine Saturday night and sleepy Sunday. Comet Lulin is moving really fast. It moved about 20 pixels per 10 minutes. Equipments were as usual with EOS 5Dmk2 at ISO 6,400 and Takahashi FSQ-106ED with Reducer QE 0.73x 385mm in focal length and F3.6 in focal ratio. Autoguiding was possible on the central condensation of the comet with Starlight Xpress Lodestar autoguider and Takahashi FS-60C positioned near parallel to FSQ-106ED. Exposure were three times 15 seconds for bright part and stars during 14:35:00 - 14:36:17 and 26 times 180 seconds for darker part during 14:37:20 - 16:07:50 February 21, 2009 UTC.
Here is a movie of the comet.
You may notice the fast movement of the bluish ion tail toward the west or the right on the frame.
