I made it!

    Newer Older

I made this bag! I'm so proud of myself! Even if it's a little wonky! I ran a wool Old Navy sweater through the washer on hot a couple of times to felt it, then cut and pinned and repinned and recut and sewed and ended up with this little guy. It's based on this idea: 30 minutes to a recycled sweater bag but it took me considerably more than 30 minutes.

Well, I have Old Navy to thank for all the color and knitting and whatnot. All I did was shrink the sweater and go from there.

      it looks great- congradulations!
p.s. I know the sweater, I felted one and made a stocking out of it : )

Really?? That is so cool! I haven't figured out yet what to do with the rest of it - the sleeves and the big neck. I wonder if I could wrangle a stocking out of them? Or one mitten, perhaps....

The arms would be great for stockings. Or you could cute out little stars and trees and make ornaments or cute out squares and stitch them on a nice back ground as pockets to make an advent calander.....can you tell I am already in the Chritmas crafting mode? Have fun felting and crafting....I have a bin downstairs filled with felted sweaters so I'll warn you- it's addictive.

Guess what - I found this sweater again at the same thrift store. www.flickr.com/photos/hey-helen/294680230/ ...so now I have enough of it to make a scarf! Maybe two scarves, actually. Or another bag and two scarves. Oh, the endless possibilities! They entice me!

Five years down the road, and you're still receiving compliments! I like the edge stitching you've done too.
