Sadly, of course, the Banksy phenomenon has become a kind of franchise where hired minions daub walls with what amount to nothing more than advertisements for the real thing

I'll stop shopping in Tesco when I too can afford to dine on pheasant...

(Not that I'm bitter or anything)

It is good...for the moment....but will people be able to relate in 10 or 20 years time?

    8. guero: 75 months ago | reply

its on the street. its not going to be there in 10-20 years time, nor is it supposed to be.

    9. Joe <3 Photography 75 months ago | reply

yes, the graffiti may no longer be there, but the photos hopefully will. if street art is temporary (by definition), the records of them should document the context, meaning(s) and viewpoints of such art. Put it another way, will your kids/grandkids understand what this art work is about?

    10. Herschell Hershey 75 months ago | reply

Our kids and grandkids will understand it as well as we understand the art of the 1960s and 1970s. And I don't think it's that hard to see a link between Banksy and pop art. But his work isn't made for posterity - it's made for the moment.

Nice capture! I really like the 'social commentary' aspect of the shot plus the framing.

Thanks Joe. Don't know why the beeb and the papers didn't use an image of the sketch itself, rather than the wall piece.
