Spit and Woodchip Hexagons

WIT:

The comb was set on a piece of glass covered with dark construction paper - a hole was cut in the paper to allow light from below to come through the comb. Lighting: lit with 430EX flash from below, through a purple gel, and set at 1/16 power. Side lighting was added with a 580EX flash, set to 1/2 power, with a yellow gel. Flashes were triggered with a ST-E2 IR transmitter. Photoshop was used just to convert from raw and adjust levels a bit.

This wasp nest has beein hanging in our skylight for some time, long since abandoned, and only about 5-6 cm across. Amazing what those little critters can do with a bit of spit and woodchips!
