My Desk, May 2010
My desk / office / gaming / TV area / dining room. Basically everything that's not sleeping happens here. The desk is built from IKEA's office line. It's got about 32 square feet of desk space -- I like room to spread!
As far as the type of work I use it for, I'm a stage manager. It's a lot of paperwork -- word documents, spreadsheets, databases, and generally juggling a lot of contacts and calendars and emails. The extra screen space comes in handy especially when first starting a show. I also do some graphic design work on the side, and web development (headsetchatter.com).
My Macbook Pro recently died (screen failed), and it now lives on the middle shelf on the left, mostly as a DVR and home entertainment machine so far. My new unibody Macbook Pro is my work and everything-else machine. The PC is only for gaming. I built it when I was working on Broadway a lot, but I don't upgrade it much because I don't have that kind of money and I'm away from home about 10 months a year, so if it doesn't fit in a suitcase or backpack, I never get to use it.
