Haystack Architecture & Site
Haystack’s campus is located on 40 wooded, oceanfront acres in the small island community of Deer Isle. Designed in 1960 by noted architect Edward Larrabee Barnes, Haystack's campus has won numerous awards for its modern buildings realized in wooden planks and cedar shingles. In 1994 it was awarded the American Institute of Architects Twenty-Five Year Award and most recently in 2006, it was placed on the National Registry of Historic Places.
