Then and Now

This is a picture of my grandfathers old garage (Dominion Tire Depot) in Beamsville, Ontario taken on Febraury 17, 1939. Behind the photo is a recently closed convenience store called "Mr. Convenience".

I took this picture on the sidewalk at the busiest intersection in Beamsville during rush hour. The people wizzing by in their cars probably wondered why I was holding out a photo and taking a picture at the same time.

I'm really happy of how this turned out.

I've shot quite a few of these, and the most unnerving thing is seeing how many pictures Pre-WW2 are shot from the middle of the street! Didn't those photographers ever think about future generations???

Love the source image, btw. Great work.

That's wonderful. What a great way to counterpoise the images and the time.

What a cool photo! The photo-in-a-photo thing is awesome! ... My husband has roots in Beamsville (in the early 1800s), and I was doing a google search on it, when I stumbled upon your photos.

    Very nice. :)

I love this building!! It always seems to have a different business in it every few years. It's so interesting to see what it used to be, thanks!

If your interested the building is still up for sale ;-)

I wish!! I would love so much to own that building and put something groovy in it. In my lifetime, I think it's been a decorations shop, a Christian bookstore, and then a series of convenience stores.
