My Bag of Toys

Newer Older

*Added to Explore - 4.17.07*

I have never uploaded a photo of my gear before so I thought, hey...why not.

I carry the LEAST amount of gear possible, although I am steadily building.

Another backpack (not shown) carrys a backup of EVERY item shown here.

*Edit* 6.1.07
Well, finally got the pocket wizards I have been needing, other than that, everything has stayed the same!

*Edit& - 7.12.07
Switched bags, kept buying more stuff, now that bag is too small. See the updated photo here!

So do you have four 400d's?

  3. loublou71 111 months ago | reply

Impressive, makes my 400d look lonely with only two lenses.

    Two questions:

1 - Why PWs when you've got an ST-E2 based system?
2 - I'm using a little Canon XTi to back up my 1Ds but with all L glass. Ever compared this little tikes to your 400? They are so cheap you could have back ups for your back ups.

The 5Ds are terrific of course.

Well Tinker, if you've used the ST-E2 long enough, you learn that it misfires 50% of the time, and hardly ever fires outside. So, I need the reliability of PW's firing every time.....after all.....I couldnt tell the bride and groom..."Wait.....my flash didnt fire.....can you kiss once more?"

To answer your second question...the 400D is the same thing as the Xti.

    XTi/400D . . . of course they are . . . I never think of them as 400s. Duh.

I've just started wedding work and found I reached for the XTi's (see, still doing it) way more than the bigger body.

Anyway, I've done very few 'set up' shots (the brides didn't want them) where I use two flashes BUT I just recently got a 550ex to augment a 420ex so I could.

I'm disappointed to hear about the ST-E2. Oh well, probably means I get to spend another $400 for a pair of PWs. My thinking had been to buy another XTi/400D body and upgrade the 1Ds to a Mark II. Oh well . . .

    Thanks for the response.

I was wondering which bag it is too. I've been looking at the Canon 200EG here on Amazon. I thought this might be it. If not, they are pretty similar, and the 200EG is pretty reasonably priced.

2 400D's because I shoot weddings....no backup would be suicide.

The bag is a Lowepro AW Trekker II

Just a little grammatical correction: The flashlight from Canon is named "Speedlite" and not "Speedlight" =)
I only noticed it cause I made the same mistake :)

    fab kit!
What do you think of the 50mm 1.8? is it the cheaper one? i am thinking of buying the cheaper one, as i so desperately want a fiddy.
    any hints/tips?

kmlc...the lens is perfect. Just look at the exif info on all the bokeh stuff on my stream....if it was shot at F/2, then it was shot with this lens!
