Uthralikavu Temple

Despite its relatively small size and rural location, Wadakkanchery Uthralikavu ഉത്രാളിക്കാവ് (Rudhira Mahakali Kavu രുധിരമഹാകാളിക്കാവ്)temple is one of the popular temples in Central Kerala. The Pooram Festival, held here, is very famous particularly for its Vedikettu (Fire Works)and other features such as Kudamattam (കുടമാറ്റം), Panchavadhyam (പഞ്ചവാദ്യം), 'Vela's (വേല) from various communities and castes and the ritual of muttirakkal(മുട്ടിറക്കൽ)vazhipadu. The annual Pooram festival is conducted by three teams from the Desams (villages) of Wadakanchery, Engakkadu and Kumaranaloor. The festival is one of the most popular temple celebrations among those of central Kerala.
