Morning Calm (2010)

My apologies for abandoning my flickr friends and disappearing for a while. I have been preoccupied with a number of things which include a new website that I've been working on. I felt it was about time for me to get a more official website, so I looked into possible options and stupidly enough, I decided to build it myself. I don't think I ever really mentioned in any of my descriptions(maybe I did), but I am an engineer by training, and it was a tad embarrassing to let anybody else do the web-coding for me when all I ever do in my research is coding. So I decided to give it a shot, and to my surprise, it turned out to be much harder than I thought. With no background in Java, html and css, it was bound to be an epic fail. When spending quite a bit of money on all the photo gear, it would have been much easier to just hire someone for this, but I knew that I needed to know at least a little bit to update and manage the website the way I wanted. In the course of building the homepage, I also unintentionally got in touch with Jesse Estes, who is one of my contacts / a hell of a photographer, because I almost stole his html files and uploaded them on my server, LOL. Well, what actually happened is, I really liked Jesse's website and tried to look at the source files to understand the coding and figure out what kinds of plug-ins were used. However, at least for a few hours, it must have looked like I was ripping off Jesse's website and I am sure that it flipped him out. Again, my apologies, Jesse. ;-)

So with no further ado, here is my 50%-complete website, where you can see my cheesy bio and 2010 portfolio. : )

Spring has come in California, which means no more fancy sunsets and sunrises. So in the meantime I tried to explore some mountains in the bay-area and I am pleasantly surprised by the great views, small but beautiful lakes and amazing waterfalls, which will be my new subjects for a while.

Heya Hark - The site looks good man, and I really enjoyed your bio. That was pretty funny when I thought you were trying to rip off my website eh... I can still laugh about that. Take care, and keep up the great work!

Steve, you have been everywhere! Yeah I really liked this place and Cataract falls, the lake is pretty nice and I think there may be some other possibilities for some decent shots.

Jim, couldn't agree more with you, California is just amazing.

Dylan, yeah, I think I learned it the hard way, but it was kind of fun at the same time. BTW I just checked out your photostream, great shots!! I think you are doing an incredible job traveling and producing those quality pictures at the same time, it must be really tough. : )

Tom, thank you so much for the link and I really liked your website. And your images are top notch!! I will closely follow your work. BTW, do you use exposure fusion for your processing? : )

Keith, I know, building a website could be a big pain, and I think people can (oh wait, they are already doing it) start a business by making websites for photographers and take money out of our pockets. I heard a lot of great things about Joomla, hope you get a great website soon.

Wilson, I think it was a few mins before sunrise.

Jesse, haha, It is great to see your comments! Thanks for dropping by. I was going to send a preemptive message, but you got me first. It was great talking to you last time, and I have to tell you that my attempt to rip off your website kind of paid off (j/k). Well I guess it's not entirely a joke because I ended up using some similar plug-ins and I couldn't thank you enough for everything. : )

Also thanks to Chrfrad, JLMitch, Sudheendra , Jessy, Alexandros, Erik, Joe, Joe Rainbow, Shane, Arild, David. I really appreciate your comments and feedback.
