More April Snow
The sign for this Blue Ridge Parkway overlook says View Fork Mountain, but the conditions on Monday last week didn't allow a view of the mountain. Still, the snow seemed to brighten our day, as we were in the second of two straight cold, rainy days in the Shenandoah Valley; we encountered snow on our ascent to the Parkway on VA 56, and then for several miles as we head north to Rockfish Gap and US 250. This is at milepost 23, where the elevation is 3,294 feet. To place this more confidently, I'll need to consult a better map; this overlook appears to be on the line between Augusta and Nelson counties, but the "view" is on the Nelson side of the line. The Blue Ridge Parkway drive came in the last full day of the visit by Flickr friend Steve Brown (sjb4photos); the previous photo was taken the next morning in Richmond, under much different weather conditions.
