I do some volunteer work where I live. Most of it is related to preserving natural resources in the Chihuahuan Desert. In May, 2008, I volunteered at the opening of the first area desalination plant and educational facility.

Here in the Chihuahuan Desert, most of our water comes from an underground reservoir. We've used much of the fresh water from the reservoir already, so the survival of our city and area depends on using our water more wisely, and finding new sources (namely, the saline water found in the same underground aquifer). The desalination plant here is one of the few that isn't near an ocean. More such plants are sure to follow.

Love your water.
