'D' KAP rig MK4 with Panasonic Lumix GF3
My 'D' KAP rig is made of sheet aluminium. There is a narrow slot around the curve of the 'D', a bolt passes through the slot and then up through the picavet cross to a quick release cam (sourced from a bicycle seat post). Releasing the cam you can rotate or change the angle of the 'D' in relation to the picavet, tightening the cam locks the 'D' in position. The camera is attached to the rig using a screw into its tripod socket, rather than have a round hole in the in the rig to put the screw through - there is a slot - this enables the camera to be set off balance to counteract wind forces acting to push the rig out of level on windy days.
