Me, Iraqi war tank

    Newer Older

I leave this description after two years of posting this Image!
When I tried to shot this photo, I was an absolutely newby in photography, even in PS etc.
Now I can find too many mistakes of this shot by myself, and know that with a bit level and curve adjusting, it should be such a better shot. Even I could remove that annoying boy at the background...
Okay, today I used fd's scoute to find my top most interesting photos, and unbelievably found that the rank of this photo is 1! So posted it to the interestingness group.

-Added to the Cream of the Crop pool as most interesting.

paperbits, Alexander "Squid" Williams, and 75 other people added this photo to their favorites.

hi again, just wanted to say thanks for your great facebook app! i left my comment on this pic previously, having no idea that you were the same guy that developed the app, so congrats for both accomplishments!

seems a T-55 to me. It is Russian made and the Tank is for sure Iraqi. Iran was using chieftain tanks initialy during the war and when the war went on we also acquired a huge arsenal of ex-iraqi tanks that were captured on the battle field and we were using them against their ex-owners.

The fact is, when we were using ex-iraqi tanks, they had Iranian flags painted on them and not the Iraqi one! :)))

The tank is a T-62, built in the USSR, Czechoslovakia, and North Korea, and used by both Iraq and Iran.

It is not a T-54/55, which has the bore evacuator on the muzzle of the gun, a prominent gap between the first and second road wheels instead of progressively bigger gaps toward the rear, a vertical-slit gunner's sight instead of the circular one, and no transmission bump in the bottom of the rear armour.

Nice shot. Looks like stripped T-72. I was a shooter in one of those in the army back in 1988.
