HMCS Labrador Arctic Cruise 1955
This photo album belonged to an unidentified crew member on board HMCS Labrador in 1955. The mission of this cruise was to support the building of the Distant Early Warning ("DEW") system in Canada's far north.

Thanks to Petty Officer 1st Class Rick Bungay RCN for sharing this outstanding collection of historic Canadian Navy photographs.

November 2012 update: First Lieutenant Peter Lloyd RN served on board HMCS Labrador on both summer cruises, the 1954 transit of the Northwest Passage and the 1955 DEW Line construction cruise. My thanks to him for providing captions for many of the photos in this album.
