Save 35 Cooper Square!
On Friday, January 28th, GVSHP joined a number of other neighborhood community groups, stakeholders, elected officials and members of the public at a press conference and rally to landmark 35 Cooper Square. The rally, organized by the Bowery Alliance of Neighbors and the Historic Districts Council, sought to convince the City to landmark 35 Cooper Square. This intact, Federal-style, circa 1825 building is one of the few surviving remnants of the historic Bowery and the last survivor of this very early phase in the history of Cooper Square. Despite numerous requests from the neighborhood, the City has so far refused to preserve the building.
