Tracking The Lion
These tracks were left by a cougar (mountain lion) - the first and only one I've ever seen in the wild. It was on the morning after the season's first snow. The aspens were still golden, there was a thin layer of powder on the ground, and the air was crisp and quiet. I spotted the big cat in the distance moments after I captured this image which was my original purpose for the trip.
You can imagine what an amazing bonus it was to see this rare and beautiful animal shortly after witnessing a stunning autumn sunrise. The memory of this morning will remain vivid in my mind until the day I die.
