Hurricane Ike favorites
9/11 - 9/17/2008

Hurricane Ike slammed into the southeast Texas coast from west of Houston to Cameron Parish, La. early Saturday morning bringing a surge as high as 17-feet and winds of 125mph in areas.
"Run from the water, hide from the wind," Frenchie told me of the difference between hurricanes. This one was mostly a high-water hurricane as it hit as a high-2 or low-3 category storm.
The surge did most of the damage, wiping homes clean away on Galveston Island and Bolivar peninsula, spreading the debris as much as ten miles inland.
