Women paying tribute to Ganga
Women preparing a small float with flowers and a candle that a will be sent out in the river Ganges to follow the stream. This act is performed as a tribute to the goddess Ganga in many places along the river. Varanasi is one of the holiest places in the world of Hinduism. Tens of thousands of pilgrims come daily for a holi dip in the river. Many elderly Indians also spend their last days in this city. After death their bodies are ceremonily cremated at the burning ghats and their ashes is spred over the water.
