10-01 Bsktbll HS - HoopHall Classic 2010 - St Anthony vs Westchester-02167
From ESPNU - Westchester (Los Angeles, Calif.) 55, St. Anthony (Jersey City, N.J.) 51..In a fast-paced game with acrobatic plays and more turnovers than veteran coaches Ed Azzam of Westchester and Bob Hurley Sr. of St. Anthony would have liked, it was the Comets' defense that led the way to victory. St. Anthony go-to player Derrick Williams had a chance to give the Friars a lead after tying the game at 46 on a conventional three-point play opportunity. Williams, however, missed the free throw and after St. Anthony (11-2) secured the rebound, Westchester's Dwayne Polee Jr. came up with a blocked shot that led to a conventional three-point play by Kareem Jamar and changed the game's momentum...Polee led a strong Westchester (15-2) defensive effort with two blocks, two rebounds and eight points. Jamar, who finished with a team-high 17 points, picked up the slack for leading scorer Jordin Mayes, who fouled out with 4:08 remaining in the fourth. Westchester also got a nice lift off the bench from Robert Gsellman. The junior finished with seven boards and made a clutch free throw to put the Comets up by two possessions (50-46). Following Gsellman's free throw, Jamar sealed the game with an acrobatic coast-to-coast layup between two Friar defenders...Williams, a Richmond recruit, scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds for St. Anthony.
