2009-02-02 Sea Shepherd crew member hurls a bottle of rotten butter

Sea Shepherd crew member Laurens De Groot hurls a bottle of butyric acid (rotten butter) at Japanese harpoon whaling ship, the Yushin Maru No. 1, as the Sea Shepherd helicopter flies overhead. The Yushin used water cannons to keep Sea Shepherd boats at bay in New Zealand territorial waters north of the Ross Sea off Antarctica on Monday, Feb. 2. 2009. Sea Shepherd engaged the ship, along with two other vessels from the Japanese whaling fleet - the Yushin Maru No. 3 and factory vessel, the Nisshin Maru, as part of Operation Musashi, its 2008-2009 campaign to end what it deems to be illegal whaling operations in Antarctic waters.
