Skirt Made from Leave Nerves

    Father Coomans, in 1673, described women in skirts that extended from the navel down to the knee. The skirts were, “some rather long nerves from leaves.” Women would also adorn themselves with “wreaths with small flowers that look like hyacinths to place on their forehead.”
