NASA Satellites See Sandy Expand as Storm Intensifies

For the latest info from NASA on Hurricane Sandy go to: 1.usa.gov/Ti5SgS

NOAA's GOES-13 satellite captured this visible image of the massive Hurricane Sandy on Oct. 28 at 1302 UTC (9:02 a.m. EDT). The line of clouds from the Gulf of Mexico north are associated with the cold front that Sandy is merging with. Sandy's western cloud edge is already over the Mid-Atlantic and northeastern U.S.

    Nice work I like well.
  • levybenathome 3y

    Fake.

At 902 EDT the pacific would be black.
I can see California clearly even though it would be an hour before sunrise.
And bright white well lit Greenland on top? No. Not today!
  • Ilu Williams 3y

This hurricane is "out of season"! .....hmmmm......
  • fuzagat 3y

@levybenathome It is not fake, it is a composite image of the cloud mask over a "true color" background. Cloud mask can be detected during night time since it is a combination of infrared bands. The color in the mask is also not the color of the actual cloud, but an indicator of probability of cloudiness. goes.gsfc.nasa.gov/goescolor/goeseast/overview2/color_lrg...

    What's HAARP doing this week?
  • Al Camardella Jr. 3y

Ilu Williams Almost, Nov 1 is when Hurricane season officially ends. I really wish today was Nov. 2. I don't even know anymore, Exactly one year ago tomorrow I was shoveling about 5, 6 inches of snow in Philly, now this. The track of this is incredibly odd. Turn Left, travel 150-200 miles to central PA, make hard right turn..go to Canada. What the!!?
  • getagripcanada 3y

I like how they edit out all the stars etc from the background....lol
  • aussieperson2011 3y

This is one system/systems that can't be ignored. Clash of two. Warnings need to be followed and this is worse than the Australian Tropical Cyclone "Yasi" .
  • Derek_Custer 3y

    Great shot.
  • Carlitos de Longwood 3y

Where is it? I can't see it.
  • pirate_1997 3y

Hurricane season is June 1 - Nov 30th, still in season. Ronald - great question, what IS HAARP doing today?? Surely no coincidence this will affect the election process...things that make you go hmm...
