Voigtlander Skoparex AR 28/2.8, Sony A7ii

It's not all fun and games.

I know this woman. She is frequently at the small park in the city square, usually with her small dog. She is usually bright and cheerful and friendly. Last week, she had a job. Last night, she had a home. This afternoon found her cold, and hungry, and, and homeless, exhausted and desperate. We chatted for a while, I wanted to make sure that she had a place to sleep tonight, she said that she thinks that she found a friend's couch to sleep on, but I think that she told me that just to make me feel better. I hope that I was wrong. I did not ask about her dog, I think that would have been too painful. I pressed $10 into her hand so she could buy something to eat and went into the local pub, which was filled with happy cheerful people, and wished that I could have done more. By the time that I finished my beer she was gone. I hope that next time that we meet, it will be under better circumstances.

Yes, I do feel a little voyeuristic sharing these, but they were taken with her permission, and I think that this is an important story to tell. My apologies for editorializing, and I hope that I have not offended anyone. I much prefer to photograph happy people. But sometimes you have to shoot what you see.
