Where There's Smoke There's Fire
Shepard's Point, Larch Mountain, Columbia Gorge, Oregon
I wanted to see if I could capture at all any of the wildfires on Mount Adams. I knew the viewpoint from Larch Mountain has a great view of the mountain so I headed on up. When I got to the viewpoint, the haze from the smoke was so thick that I could only see the top of the mountain above all that smoke. I captured a few snaps of sunset and set my camera in place before completely loosing sight of Mount Adams. I couldn't see a darn thing throughout the night but I noticed my camera was picking up the orange glows of the wildfires. Shooting blind, this is the best I could capture pushing the limits of my camera sensor. A full frame camera would have been nice to have here. I had to really boost contrast to bring out this view of Mount Adams and did what I could to fix the noise issue. Still, I'm glad I got something with this 16 minute exposure of the mountain.
