This is my official entry to the World Trade Center Memorial competition. It's shocking how raw and poorly designed it is, but whatrya gonna do.

The concept was to remember the last paths taken to the WTC site by those who died; the memorial would be comprised of these paths and spaces, including things like the WTC tower lobbies and stairways [which rescue workers used]. Biographical information/portraits would be threaded and interwoven along the paths. Artists like James Turrell and others would have been commissioned to conceive and realize elements of the memorial program.

It just seemed to make more sense to memorialize the people not the buildings, certainly not the footprints [which, as it turns out, aren't being preserved in the winning design anyway, just approximations of them.]

Anyway, I've been shifting computers and servers around, and I wanted this to remain in the public sphere, if only to be indexed a little bit.
