This juvenile Wood Duck drake (male) was happily swimming around feeding on duckweed and was only cautiously aware of my presence. I have never been able to get any decent shots of Wood Ducks so this was a thrill. I still want a drake in full breeding plumage, maybe next season but that's what keeps it fun, those subjects that elude us. That challenge, excitement and ultimate satisfaction when we "get the shot".
From last Saturday's trip to Bombay Hook, NWR, August 11, 2012.
Thanks for looking.
