Little Gap Covered Bridge (Carbon County, PA)

    Newer Older

This is one of two remaining covered bridges in Carbon County Pennsylvania. Little Gap Covered Bridge was thought to be built in either 1860 or 1880 (I've seen references to both years) utilizing a Burr Arch design and crosses the Buckwha Creek with a length of 92 feet. The bridge is open to daily vehicular traffic and is owned by the county. It's in pretty good condition but is missing one vertical board as you can see on the right side about halfway down the bridge. The bridge is located east of Aquashicola in Lower Towamensing Township on Covered Bridge Road

I shot this as seven bracketed RAW frames at .7 stop increments and then combined them into an HDR with Photomatix Pro and finally, tone mapped that image.

Very nice treatment and processing on this structure. I photographed this bridge about 9 years ago, I think it is time to get back and do it again.

Very good shot Gregg.......Not going to comment about processing.......Its a wonder you don't get tired of hearing that word.

By the oldest grandson lives a few miles from this bridge.......on a hill overlooking Beltsville Lake.....I have photographed this bridge a hundred times.

If you go up POHOPOCO ROAD.....he lives a little above the new bed and breakfast place .

      I love your pictures.
